Guide to Parades in Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom Parade, Festival of Fantasy, is one not to be missed. Normally on at 3pm every day, this parade travels from Frontierland through Liberty Square and down Main Street.

To catch the full parade here are a few quick tips to remember:
1) Be there 30minutes prior to Parade start
2) Find a spot around Liberty Square and Frontierland
3) Grab some food and sit down
Top Tip: if you’re up front stay seated to allow everyone behind to see

The parade route will be packed out for the event and I would suggest finding a spot early and sticking to it if the parade is your Disney Must. If you just want to see it and not full interested, you can arrive and see it, however you can be 4 to 5 rows back. So a family with small kids should be there early so that kids can see without being put on shoulders.

I normally take a seat at least 30minutes before the parade starts. This is a great chance for me and my family to catch our breath before diving back into the queues of Disney rides.

Now, as long as most of us are present in the spot, this doesn’t mean the whole group needs to stay. Normally, I sit my parents down and I’ll go grab the food to bring pack to them. I normally grab hotdogs or ice creams. Nothing fancy but something small to eat so that we don’t waste time during the day.

My favourite treat is from the Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, I’ll grab the Chocolate Fruit Waffle (not sure on the right name). This is a great filling treat we share within the family.

We’ll always try to sit around Liberty Square, which has become a tradition for us, or into Frontierland. This is because this is where the Parade starts and means we can head off to rides as soon as it’s finished.

Main Street and the Hub are good spots, however you have to wait for the parade to reach and pass you before you can move on which leaves you after 4pm sometimes.

Finally, my best tip is if you’re up front please stay seated! If we all stayed seating for Parades and shows everyone would see more, especially kids who usually get put onto your shoulders and block the view for others.
There, I said it, controversial I know but there’s nothing worse than waiting 30minutes in the best spot for pictures for the parade and someone decides at the lat second to put a kind up on their shoulders blocking your view.

In Japan, it’s a requirement to sit during shows and parades, and honestly it was the best thing ever as no one had to strain around heads or kids to see the floats simply because we were all looking up comfortably.

So please, for the courtesy to all around you, arrive early with small kids and try and be up front. This also applies to adults standing along the rope-line of the parade route, let a kid step in front, they won’t block you and it means they get to see. Kindness makes Disney so much better.

So, with my little rant over, where do you normally stand for the Parade?

Have you stood around Liberty Square?
What did you think of the spot or would you suggest somewhere else? How do you prepare for the parade?
