In the Magic Kingdom, there are so many rides and attractions to see! It can be overwhelming the first time you go to the park, but if you take your time you will be able to get the most out of your magical trip.
Dark Rides are rides or attractions that are completely indoors and work in a sit-down environment. While Disney Parks have many rides, here are some of the 5 best dark rides in MK that are a must-do:
- Haunted Mansion
- Buzz Lightyear
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Winnie the Pooh
- Peter Pan
Now many people might have a different opinion than me on this and that’s okay. Disney is so universal that everyone can have different favorites and in a different order. I haven’t placed my list in any specific preference cause they change every year depending on my mood and experience of them. However these 5 are always a good ride to take the time and wait for, and here’s why:
Haunted Mansion
Based inside a spooky manor on the hill, this ride will take you from the front gates straight into the attraction. Located in Liberty Square, like many Disney lines, this line is covered with interesting things to see. From the front of the house to the gravestones, right into the foyer of the first scene.
This is a ride worth riding twice! It is dim lighting and dark inside, so for any people scared of the dark do be aware. It sits 2-3 people a cart
Buzz Lightyear
An indoor space ranger training academy, this ride is a great one for the whole family. Located in Tomorrowland, this ride is a shooting ride themed to Buzz Lightyear and is a great interactive ride.
From boarding on a continuous load area, this is a 2 shooter ride. Your cart travels through and you use the laser guns attached to the ride cart to shoot various-shaped targets; circles, squares, triangles, and diamonds.
Each shape represents certain points. What makes this ride interesting is that firstly you cant see your beam directly hitting the targets and secondly you can move the cart left, right and a full 360 degrees. So for any shooters that suddenly hit from 1,000 points to 8,000 in one hit, you can swing the cart to get your best shot again or sabotage your competitor.
Pirates of the Caribbean
This indoor attraction located in Adventureland is a slow-moving boat ride. The attraction that inspired the movies, this boat ride takes you through a mix of scenes.
A great ride for the whole family, but do watch your step as pirates may leave you feeling knocked you off your feet
Winnie the Pooh
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is definitely my traditional ride! I have to ride this on every Magic Kingdom visit; not just a Disney visit.
This Hunny pot ride is a sweet wander through the classic story of Winnie the Pooh. All his friends are found on the adventure and it’s a perfect indoor ride to make you and the family in a happy mood.
And if you plan your ride right you can visit the Winnie the Pooh character great right next to the ride!
Peter Pan
A classic. This ride is constantly a 70 minute or more of a wait. This indoor ride will have you board a pirate ship and sail through the skies above Neverland.
This ride is busy for a reason. While short, it just fills you with every Disney memory you have and leave you filled with happy thoughts!
Top tip: if you can’t get a fast pass and don’t want to lose time in the park, jump on this ride 10minutes before park close! This will guarantee you ride it without missing out on other events in the park you want to reach first.
This is my list of the 5 Best Dark Rides in Magic Kingdom. Let me know what your 5 Dark Rides are, as I’d love to see what everyone else has in preference!
